Courtesy of Dawn & Nichole -- a little somethin' somethin' for today!
1. What movie villain scared you as a child?
Hmmm. I don't know if he's a villian per se - but the monster from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - the Abominable Snow Monster, scared me to death! I used to have recurring nightmares about him.
2. Name 3 things you can't do without lately:
My Champagne & Strawberries body cream, my hair straightener, and a ponytail holder.
3. Do you take vitamins?
I should, and yet.....
4. How much of your family history do you know?
We can't trace back past my grandparents, so unfortunately - not alot. Records were destroyed during WWII, and those that weren't ruined, are over in Eastern Europe. I'd need a professional genealogist to assist me. Mucho Deniros.
5. What everyday thing do you find utterly magical?
My children. Their innocence and zest for the simplest of things always makes me appreciate them, their perspective -- and their ability to renew mine.
6. What color is your couch?
Taupe
7. How many phone numbers do you still know by heart?
So funny, I was just talking about this today! Ones that I had to know prior to having caller ID - I know well. Those that I've only recently learned.....not so much. Truly, it feels like dozens!!
8. What is the best way to beat the Summer heat?
The pool/beach/central air.
9. What website do you spend the most time on?
Google.
10. How many songs are on your iPod?
Roughly, 550
11. Have you ever flown first class?
Yes, it used to be the only way I flew; but that was when I worked two jobs and one of them was for an airline. Those were the days.... first class to the West Coast rocked.
12. Do you read the comments others have left on a blog or Facebook post before you?
I do. Sure, why not?
13. What is the furthest trip you've ever taken by car?
I think it was Vermont? I always wanted to road trip but never got around to. Hopefully, this summer it will be Hershey Park PA, but we shall see.
14. What is the oldest item in your freezer?
Probably the ice cubes! Food doesn't last long in my freezer.
15. When do you iron: all at once after doing your laundry? On an as-needed basis? Never?
I try to buy items that don't require ironing. I can iron, but I can be impatient about it. I'd much rather pay for it to be pressed at the cleaners.
16. What color are your toenails usually?
Typically a dark burgundy, but they are actually a bit on the pink-orange side at the moment. Maybe that's Mango?
17. When did you last see fireworks?
Do the liquid fireworks at Jordan's Furniture count? Because if so -- then tonight. Otherwise, it would have been the 4th of July!
18. What do you love most about where you currently live?
It's Boston baby....what's there not to love?!?!?!
19. What makes you follow a particular blog?
Good, intelligent writing. Posts that make me think. (I'm with you Nichole). Also a feeling of being able to relate on some level.
20. Have you ever seen a Broadway show?
Yes!!! Both musical and theatrical.... love, love, love it.

It's all about the music and the laughter.....
So, I'm here watching "This is It", the Michael Jackson movie. Seriously, I'm loving it. The kids are freestyling in the living room trying to imitate him, they're loving the songs - and truthfully, so am I. It's still rather surreal to me that he's gone. And for those of you who haven't seen this movie -- the concept of him being weak, sick or frail prior to his death -- is completely false. He looks great (well, as great as someone with that much cosmetic work to their face can look!) and definitely healthy; at least relatively. He doesn't seem lethargic, or drugged out - and his voice sounded fantastic live. One of the most interesting things that jumped out at me the most from the first glances was the fact that he wasn't wearing his glove. I can't remember the last time I saw his hands bare.
Okay, a few months back I wrote a post about how much I loved Kirstie Alley's "Fat Actress" show and how sad I was that it had been cancelled. Well, someone finally heard my cry! Yes, she's back....and on A&E. "Big Life" looks like it's going to be in the same vein and I can't wait to watch it! It premiered last night and it is the game plan for tonight's television enjoyment.
I wonder if she's still obsessed with Kid Rock....?

Lyrically speaking....or maybe not.
Sometimes we fall down and can’t get back up
We’re hiding behind skin that’s too tough
How come we don’t say I love you enough
Till it’s to late, it’s not too late
Our hearts are hungry for a food that won’t come
We could make a feast from these crumbs
And we’re all staring down the barrel of a gun
So if your life flashed before you
What would you wish you would’ve done
Yeah… gotta start
Lookin at the hand of the time we’ve been given here
This is all we got and we gotta start pickin it
Every second counts on a clock that’s tickin’
Gotta live like we’re dying
We only got
86 400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or throw it all away
We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we’re dying
And if your plane fell out of the skies
Who would you call with your last goodbyes
Should be so careful who we live out our lives
So when we long for absolution
There’ll be no one on the line
Yeah… gotta start
Lookin at the hand of the time we’ve been given here
This is all we got and we gotta start pickin it
Every second counts on a clock that’s tickin’
Gotta live like we’re dying
We only got
86 400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or throw it all away
We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we’re dying
We never know a good thing till it’s gone
You never see a crash until it’s head on
All those people right when we’re dead wrong
You never know a good thing till it’s gone
Gotta live....like we're dying.

So, here's a thought....
I got an automated phone call from our school's superintendent asking parents to attend a Cyber-bullying meeting. It seems that some of the middle school and high school kids set up a page to specifically target a particular student and a teacher -and so the school wants the parents to be aware of what is happening in the cyber universe. Kudos to the school system for getting involved and being pro-active in this type of activity. Unfortunately, they have to be in this day and age given the cruelty that has led to unfortunate teenage deaths.
However.... my school of thought on this topic is......
What the heck are middle school and even high school kids doing on Facebook?!!?
Call me crazy, but I just don't think social media is meant for children. Engines such as MySpace and Facebook, are practically obsessions for mature, non-bullying adults (oh, and trust me - it seems like there's lots of adult drama out there as well, but generally speaking....), so why would anyone think it's okay for a child to be able to spend their time on these sites?
Don't children have better things to do than sit on a website? Shouldn't they be out and socializing in "real life" than in the virtual one? Isn't there more for kids to do than be busybodies? Shouldn't we be teaching our children to be kind, compassionate, hardworking, and socially adept? Between cell phones and social networking -- there is no space between people anymore. You can't "cool off" after an argument; there is no "I"ll see you tomorrow" and actually look forward to seeing someone because there is that incessant texting, or Instant Messaging. How healthy do we really think that is for young people? Because this girl thinks not so much.
Truthfully, I think our responsiblity as parents has to start with us - as parents. Lead by example -- our children will have the same concepts of what is acceptable behaviour based upon what they see at home; children learn what the live. That means no texting at the dinner table; being able to watch television together as a famly without the laptop being on and constantly checking Facebook notifications; showing our children that life is about living - and not constantly being driven by the social networking circle --which is truly not very social at all.
There is a time and a place for everything; and truthfully, with bad there is also good. Social networking does have it's place in society, and holds value when used in the right context -- but it's not meant for children; monitoring their pages is a laughable attempt at control -- you can't monitor the places that they post, or the things that they say outside of their page. But by not allowing them to run rampant online -- they may think twice about their behaviour in general. There's a bravado when hiding behind a lap top -- not so much in person. Force them to be accountable for their actions in person, and most importantly -- to be a person -- rather than an icon or photo or status update on a page. Teach them to be defined by their actions - not by how many "friends" they have online.
Bullying will always be a problem; it always has been. Sometimes, there are just mean kids. But Cyber-bullying, in my opinion -- is completely a byproduct of lazy parenting.
That my friends, is what has to be fixed otherwise it will never, ever end.

"Yeah, man, it means love, respect, community... and the dollars too. The package. The kwan..."
Last night, I had a moment.
At the store, we had a tasting of steak tips & country style ribs - along with some beer. All from local companies - and I called it a "Shop Fresh, Shop Local" tasting. It was delicious! And, rather well publicized within all the social media networks.
I stayed a little later than usual because I hadn't quite anticipated the rush of people and I had three people on and my being there was definitely a benefit, which is something I love to do. Working a night shift is always fun because it's typically busier than the days anyway, and we all know my love for chatting with people.
While I was there, I took a moment and stepped back to take it in: Michael Buble music playing, the lights glowing, the store full of people smiling and laughing.....and I had such a surge of self contentment and pride. It was fantastic!
But a customer made a comment that truly was the icing on the cake. She stated how much she loved the store, how happy she and all her friends were that we were there -- how much we prettied up the shopping area, how great it was for the city and how much everyone has positive feedback and then she said "look - see how many people are here, you're really bringing the community together!"
Though I kept my cool on the outside and of course was graciously appreciative...
I was completely beaming inside.
I always knew I was capable of great things.
But to actually do it...is pretty awesome.

And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed, just to get it all out - what' s in my head; and I'm feeling a little peculiar....
Yesterday was a fun little day. A busy one, but nice because not one - but two of my girlfriends from my old job on base came by to visit me! Not at the same time either - one came, and we had a quick lunch which was great since I barely ever eat lunch any more. And then later that day, my other girlfriend stopped in and said hello. It was so fun and almost like the "old days" in a way. Without the frustration and/or disappointment of the job, of course.....
Very exciting to be so close to baseball season...! Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack, I don't care if I ever get back! (Sending out happy thoughts and positive vibes to Jason's family, with the news of his father fighting an illness right now. I can certainly relate to that....)
I'm a little surprised at the contestants that were sent home from American Idol tonight; they were so not who I thought deserved to go. The girls are so impressive, but the one boy who I really thought had a fantastically unique voice - was sent home. That, was a travesty because I think the talent of the boys pales in comparison --and my personal pick at this junction of the competition -- is Boston's own Siobhan. Love everything about her....
I'm hoping to get back to yoga next week; my cold is dissipating. I'm so thankful this one was fierce and quick, rather than long and lingering.
The weekend is coming, and you know -- I really am looking forward to it. I love the downtime that the weekend brings me, and while I love to work hard - I like to play hard too. My Princess Petunia can be very trying these days, but I so enjoy my Mom time with her and my son. There's nothing like it, and when the kiddies grow up and are fantastic little people -- then the personality struggles of the kids -- and trials of being a parent, will be worth their weight in gold. It's work and fun at the same time -- it's truly the toughest job you'll ever love.

The transparency is disturbing....
So, here's what I want to know.....
Is anyone else picking up on the absolute and complete assasination attempt that is going on towards Toyota?
Is it a coincidence that our President, is Chief CEO and stock holder of General Motors? I think not.
What also isn't a coincidence, nor does it take a rocket scientist to figure out -- is what is probably the most disturbing plan of propaganda to come out of this administration. The attempts to destroy the reputation of the number one imported vehicle in the country -- possibly the world -- is just so disturbing. The blatantly transparent effort to sway the American consumers to lose faith in that company and therefore opt to shop, oh I don't know.... American? Not to say that I don't agree with shopping American for vehicles if thats what you choose, but let's be honest -- Toyota is probably the most sound vehicle of any country's make -- on the market today.
People may briefly opt to shop elsewhere -- but I assure you, that won't last long.
It's unfortunate that so little about our Executive in Chief being in such a position of power at one of the most poorly managed American companies has been expressed in the media.
But alas....the public is nothing more than confused sheep following a very fickle shepherd.

You like me...you really, really like me!
Let's Oscar chat - shall we?
The best: Demi Moore in all of her insanely fit and gorgeous glory. Talk about looking timeless... no wonder that cougar nabbed such a young husband! I'd marry her for God's sake. Helen Mirren -- in a word -- stunning. She is the epitome of graceful aging. Favorite dresses of the evening: Demi, Rachel McAdams, Sandra Bullock. Kate Winslet and Penelope Cruz. Don't get me wrong, there were others but those were showstoppers for me. I loved the very smart yet sexy long hair styles that were on alot of people - including some of those I just mentioned. I really enjoyed Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin as hosts; not too over the top, not harsh and mean as some hosts can be to their audience members and for the first time the hosts were genuinely funny. Loved them. Sandra Bullock's acceptance speech -- was fabulous. I love her anyway -- I totally want to be best friends with her. I guess in a nutshell, the show as a whole was done well this year. I had no regrets staying up until midnight to watch every single moment of it. What I do know, is that next year -- I'm so having a Pajamas Oscar party at Chez "I'm Just a Girl"; complete with champagne of course!
The worst: Farrah Fawcett being left off the memorial presentation. Ouch, that one hurt me - one can't imagine how her family and friends must've felt. Sarah Jessica Parker's horribly orange skin and bad hair style. Ugh, what was her stylist thinking??!?! I did not at all like the beehive updo's some women wore - there's something elegant up an updo, but most of them I saw looked like old women with straggly hairs sticking out everywhere. When someone like JLo has her hair up and slicked back she is stunning. Last night....not so much. Just sayin'..... Kristen Stewart is continuing to be on my radar as the "least talented person in Hollywood". She was less than impressive yet again last night. While I was beyond thrilled that Mo'nique won her award, I was not equally as impressed with her relatively angry and bitter acceptance.
The best part of the Oscars for me -- is the opportunity to get a glimpse at some movies that I more than likely didn't get the chance to see during the year. And now, I've got some things that I'm actually excited about watching.
And if that's what I get from the show, outside of getting to play armchair fashion critic -- then truly, that's good enough for me!

So exciting!!!
So, yesterday I got a phone call from the television show Chronicle asking if they could come and interview me on a piece they're doing on wine.
(Could they come to my store?!?!?
Shhaaa....yeah!)
Would you believe that in the two hours they spent in my store -- only 2 customers came in? I couldn't believe it. That has never, ever happened in the short history of the shop. I was beside myself over it, what are the chances?!! It was okay though, we had enough flow to keep it interesting.
And now, I'm pretty tired. Exhausted, actually. It was such an adrenalin rush, and then when it was over - I was drained. Sounds silly, but of course I was nervous a bit. I have the best poker face when it comes to these things but trust me..... the butterflies were there.
I'm crazy excited to see it but at the same time -- scared to watch. No one really likes the way they look or sound, right? And while I know I'm really good talking to people it was very difficult to shake the feeling of having to be just perfect while on camera - and I'm afraid I'm going to come off as contrived -- or maybe not having answered the questions properly! Did I roll my eyes too much; did I purse my lips too much so that those silly little lines around my lips are obnoxiously visible; the only thing I know for sure is that I did not talk with my hands -- those I kept in my apron! I just hope that I don't look absolutely ridiculous. He said I was a great interview - but wow, I didn't feel like I was.
This was a huge and fantastic opportunity for the store and truly -- it was so much fun.
I am so ready to unwind with a delicious dinner, and a nice glass of wine.
There are definitely worse jobs to be had.

We stand on guard, for....thee....
So, can I just tell you....
I loved, loved, loved the Olympics closing ceremony.
Despite the fact that everyone so obviously lip synched their songs -- I really enjoyed it.
I get all mushy and sentimental in a "kumbiyah" way of the unity and beauty of the international peace the Olympics brings. I'm really sad to see them end and can't wait to see what Russia does for their hosting of events.
http://www.soundboard.com/sb/olympic_theme_song.aspx
Check out that link for a little post-olympic musical infusions. Some of the best and most beautiful Olympic theme songs ever.
I've got to ask one question though....
is all that Canada has to offer really only beavers, hockey, leaves, moose, and beer? The latter not being part of the closing ceremonies but the former all being on display in larger than life form. There's got to be more to them that....
Like pharmaceuticals...
Just sayin'....

I get all mushy and sentimental in a "kumbiyah" way of the unity and beauty of the international peace the Olympics brings. I'm really sad to see them end and can't wait to see what Russia does for their hosting of events.

A bottle of red, a bottle of white....
I could use both right about now.
It's been a tough week. And it's not quite over yet.
On the Mom front - still no news on whether the chemo is working, but there were some side effects from the chemo the doctor was concerned about so my mother was admitted for some hydration, heart monitoring and blood transfusions. That in of itself isn't so bad; the waiting for the update on whether the chemo is working is frustrating - and then there's my Mom's perspective in general that is always draining.
Princess Petunia is down and out (albeit, very briefly given antibiotics are amazing in their quick effect on little bodies) with the oh-so-rampant strep virus. I got a call yesterday a.m. that she was complaining of a sore throat and with so many cases showing up in her school yesterday the nurse erred on the side of caution and called me. Good thing she did -- as she tested positive. My pediatrician actually came to the store and visited me today to discuss her (and buy a bottle of wine for he & his wife to have at dinner, truth be told) and he was surprised the result came back so quickly - but good thing it did, because she's already rebounding after just one dose.
So, I'm planning on having a nice glass of wine with dinner tonight. Menu at Chez "I'm just a girl" is oven roasted chicken cacciatore. I've got the fire place going, and I'm ready for a nice and hopefully quiet evening though one never knows.
If I had a jacuzzi, I'd totally be in it right now. That's one of the many things I wish my house had. It could totally be a "calgon, take me away" kind of night.....

Get into the groove.....
So this is my last week of really eating horribly.
I typically eat healthy, but truly the last three weeks I've been incredibly over the top indulgent eating things that are really not only not great for me -- but in abundance!
Starting Monday, I'm doing my oh-so-yummy and healthy vegan detox. I almost can't wait -- because it makes me feel so energized, and I'm always eating so I'm really never hungry. It's really a "feel good pick me up" which is perfect for this inbetween and relatively blah time of year.
And then, there's yoga.... back to class next week. I found three classes that fit in my schedule for this time of year which is more than enough for me to feel great again. I feel strong right now anyway just because of what I do physically on a daily basis -but to get back into working out is what I need psychologically, you know what I mean? I've got to start running again too, and then of course -- there's that 175 mile bike race that I might be doing.
But until next week....there's lots of indulgences to be had!

Life is a Cabernet....
I have to say - though I live in a city that has some of the most fabulous restaurants - I rarely get to eat at any of them. When you've got small children and a lack of sitter availability, well....you do the math.
One of the nicer perks of being in the alcoholic beverage industry, is being invited to wine dinners and/or portfolio reviews. They're often held at some of the finer restaurants or hotels in Boston which makes it that much more appealing to try and attend. We don't typically go to the reviews because we're the kind of store that the reps bring the portfolios to us (Duckhorn tasting tomorrow by the way... how fun!); but there are often opportunities where you get to sample wine from some of the more relevant and prevalent players in the industry. Today, was one of those days.
I don't often leave the store during the week; it's my job, and I love being there - plus I feel as if things won't be the way I want them to be if I'm not there. I know, it's something I've got to get over, but we're a new store and so I think it's critical that I'm a constant. Anyway, today I made an exception and attended a luncheon that was at Abe & Louies. I was really impressed with the premises, and though I found a few minor glitches in my food (ahi tuna that wasn't fully thawed, but.... absolutely delicious!), I was really impressed with the menu and how it tasted. Perfectly proportioned as well -- it looked tres petite and yet, was quite satisfying.
The wine was Silver Oak, and we tasted out their Twomey line as well as their oh-so-famous Alexander Valley & Napa Cabernets. My personal favorite-- the Napa Cab. It was really, really good. I won't bore you with the details of it, but trust me. To die for if you're a Cab enthusiast.
I have to say, for a Monday.....today wasn't half bad!!

Happy Friday to me.....
Just a little postscript to yesterday's post.
1. Princess Petunia and I had a fabulous Girls Night. She got her nails done, bought some fun little gatzy's at the Dollar Store (truly, the place is a parent's dream for inexpensive toys that make the kids feel like they hit the jackpot.), we went out for sushi -- and topped it off with the acquisition of Big Top Cupcake. Pictures will follow from tomorrow's baking experiment with that creative set.
2. Really, who cares about Tiger Woods? Not this girl. He cheated on his wife, he's not a perfect person, and he's not the idol everyone imagined he was. He was a wolf in sheeps clothing. So not Earth shattering. Get over it and move on....
3. And finally, the Captain. As always, coming into training camp in fantastic shape.
Check it out....

*sighs*

Thursdays Thoughts....
1. Why is taking so long for the state of Florida to prosecute Casey Anthony? It's obnoxiously disturbing to hear each new revelation and see her phony crocodile tears at the hearing. I caught just a few moments of Nancy Grace last night and it made my stomach turn. There is no way this woman is innocent and I can't possibly understand why it's taking so long for the case to go to trial. I am all for ensuring that the case is air tight so there is no way she won't be convicted; but truly, this is ridiculous.
2. Hello Spring Training! Thankfully, it's that time of year again which means it's almost "All Red Sox, All The Time" on NESN. The other night, I caught a tail end piece of an interview with the Captain which was fun.... speaking of the "C", I do believe he'll be catching more than 30 games this season; I think that would be a smart decision as well, but time will tell as to how the organization utilizes him.
3. I just found out tomorrow is going to be a Girl's Night for the Princess Petunia & myself. How fun! I don't know what we're going to do.... maybe a little shopping, or a little sushi...or both! Oh, the fun she and I can have.
4. A week from today we find out how my Mom's chemo is working. She's been staying with me since Christmas for this round of chemo and my gut says it's working, because I tend to think if it was progressing given her last prognosis -- we'd have some indication by now. But we shall see....
5. "One day at a time--this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering.”
Really, Doesn't that just say it all?

A little flour, a little butter, and a lot of sugar....
Okay, so I admit I have yet another television obsession.
Baking shows on both Food TV & TLC.
Cake Boss. Ultimate Cake-off. Ace of Cakes. Food Network Challenges.
I can't not watch them when they're on, and I'm able to actually take a few minutes to sit down and relax.
Let's be honest, the only channel I really watch is Food Network anyway -- and though it's on at the store constantly though I don't get to actually watch the shows; I do get to glance up now and then and look at what is being made, but it's not the same as being able to just sit down and enjoy.
But there's something about the baking shows that I just love. Maybe it's because it's something that I don't think I could ever actually do myself? Or maybe it's just the sheer artistry that is the end result that reels me in; but whatever it is -- I'm definitely hooked.

Jour de Valentines heureux à vous !
However you celebrate this weekend, with your significant other - or your friends -- be sure to enjoy! It's not just a "Hallmark"holiday -- it's a great way to just take a moment and let someone you know you think they're great.
You Are a Content Valentine |
![]() While you don't put all your hope in Valentine's Day, you do think of as a holiday to spark some romance. You prefer a holiday that's romantic, cozy, and very intimate. You don't need your partner to pull out all the stops... just a few stops. The most important thing about Valentine's Day is who you spend it with. You could make a fast food dinner special. That's not to say you don't want to be wined and dined a little by your Valentine. You just aren't looking for a whirlwind trip or an expensive gift. |
You Are Snickers |

It's Thursday's Thinking....
1. I want that job. So, how's about that snowstorm eh? DC, huge. Boston - non existant. And I knew it was going to happen that way and yet it amazed me that the schools all cancelled. Truly, the night before I saw Fox 25's lead weatherman chatting with other weather trackers and at about 8:45 they were pretty convinced the storm was too far south for anyone other than the Cape to get any substance; but the schools had already cancelled long before the 10pm broadcast so truly -- what could they say? They couldn't retract the forecast at that point, right? Schools don't cancel their cancellations.
How great it must be to have someone pick out your clothes, do your hair, do your makeup - you reap the benefits of being a quasi-celebrity (you know, fun events and never needing restaurant reservations) and you get to guess at what you think might happen? And you still get paid when you're wrong. I so want that job.
2. Different prices? That's a ripoff... So today I had to stop and get gas and when I pulled up to the pump I saw two different Regulars. One price for cash - one for credit. What's that all about? I don't go to stores and get charged differently for cash items versus credit items. Imagine if I sold wine at prices dependant upon how the person paid? What kind of a gig is that? And at the prices these days - how many people actually fill their tank with cash -- unless of course they're driving a 4 cylindar. At minimum, most of us use debit cards -- so why penalize us for not carrying a Chicago bankroll every time we leave the house? I totally thought that was craziness - and I think it's rude. Pick one price, and stick with it. Jeesh....
3. Je veux voir un bon film ce week-end. Tonight we're watching "The Blind Side" and I'd really, really, really like to see "Julie & Julia" this weekend. I've heard some great things about that movie and I just want to snuggle up with a blanket and a glass of wine and watch it. Will that actually get to happen? Who knows - but it's what I'd like to do!

Marcia, Marcia....Marcia!
Or "Jennifer, Jennifer, Jennifer".

Can I just tell you -- I love love love Jennifer Aniston. I think it's because I feel like I can relate to her; it's as if I know her. I don't mean that in a crazy, stalkerish way -- I mean it in the respect that she comes across as being, well.... so normal. Like she could be one of my friends...she could be me. And while I have no idea as to how she really is as a person in real life, every one of her characters seem to have a general likeability about them that makes me feel as if she's not acting but just being herself. Although I do think that if I knew her in real life we'd be fabulous friends.... we could do yoga, eat aruyevedic and enjoy good wine. Just sayin'...
She must have not only nerves of steel - but a psyche of one as well. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to have my whole life played out in the tabloids. I mean, it's one thing to rise above and just ignore, but when everyone is just talking about your love life, who you're dating - who you're divorcing -- it's got to be excruciatingly difficult to take the high road all the time. The poor girl married the most amazing man (or so he seemed at the time...at least the most amazing man to look at), to become one half of a divinly gorgeous golden couple; and at the same time, was unable to have a slice of privacy during what is an incredibly traumatic time at being horribly mistreated publicly by that very same person. It's hard enough for us regular people to deal with rejection from a partner in a relationship -- imagine having it on every television, radio and print publication?!?!?! Ugh, and of course the media just frenzies on it. Her ex's current partner I lost respect for; in the beginning I tried to give the benefit of the doubt to a certain extent, because one never really knows what happened....but once the admitted preying upon and digs were being announced in interviews, that all went out the window. So very disturbing. I find it appalling that this poor girl just can't get away from her ex husband publicly! "Jennifer, 5 years after the divorce..." "Jen won't take Brad back"... ugh. Like it isn't hard enough to have your heart broken -- you have to relive it daily everywhere you look?
All I can say is this:
Jennifer, you are a lovely and beautiful and strong woman. You know that it's all about karma....what goes around comes around, and it's a-coming. You can relinquish the guilt by forgiving, but that can't stop the forces of nature and karma can be a big ol' bitch. You've clearly surrounded yourself with a fantastic support system and you are a force to be reckoned with. I don't envy you -- yet at the same time, I suppose I do a bit. At a minimum, I wish I could grab a 'bucks and do yoga with you... I do think we'd probably be great friends.
Oh, and by the way -- if you want me to kick Angelina's "you know what", I will. I think I can take her.... Kidding. (Not really. I really do think I can take her.....)

Finally....Friday.
So this is one week I'm happy to see over. It wasn't a bad week per se, but it was definitely a hectic and relatively stressful one.
Tonight is going to be a very quiet and relaxing one.... the kiddies are going to bed early, and I'm going to indulge in Chinese food for my third night this week (crazy, I know!). I have leftovers, and while I'm not typically a leftover kinda girl -- I don't feel up to cooking, so leftovers it is. Along with a delicious Sancerre, my night is going to consist of relaxing on the sofa and potentially indulging in a good movie. If I can stay awake that long...I'm pretty darn tired.
Tomorrow, if the kids are both feeling okay (Princess Petunia has had strep & a bronchial infection, ugh....and my Son is fighting a cold & cough) then we'll be going to our favorite farm for a Pancake Breakfast tomorrow. Of course, there are errands to run and foodshopping to be done. I did promise them we'd get that Big Top Cupcake maker and so that's on the agenda as well.
Superbowl Sunday, we're having a "feast" - as the kids like to call it. One of those Big Top cakes is going to be all purple to cheer on the Saints. And of course, there will be food.... so it's good times this weekend. Relaxing, yet busy - and good times none the less.
And then Monday, we start all over again.
Live well, laugh hard, love fiercely and enjoy yourself this weekend.

Lyrically speaking...
Well we dig our heels in
And wonder who's gonna win...
Who is gonna win it or wear it out
I change the lock on the door
Or learn how to take a little more
I can outrun all of the devils there
But never the doubt
Try not to throw all your money into 20/20 vision
For the world won't wait on politics or indecision...
And wonder who's gonna win...

I can outrun all of the devils there

Reason # 145679 as to why I love, love, love my job....
I had no idea that people would just give me food.
Literally.
Vendors drop me off food to "audition" to see if it's something I'd like to carry in my store.
!!!!!!!!!
How fun is that? I love it. I mean, I sample everything anyway - and I prefer to keep business small and local - but there are so many companies that I'm unaware of, and to have them solicit me is fantastic....and delicious!
Today, was Italian Cookie audition day.
Yum.
Last week - was fresh, homemade pasta day.
Yum.
What will tomorrow be......?

Life is just a fantasy, can you live this fantasy life.....
(What ever happened to Aldo Nova? They were sooo good back in the day!)
It's just 22 short days until Pitchers and (ahem) Catchers report!
Thank goodness. It's been a long, long, long offseason.
Speaking of off seasons.....
How fun is it going to be to watch the Superbowl this year and not be overly emotionally invested into it!! It's going to be great to watch the game and root for the Saints. I do believe a little Superbowl Party is going to be on the agenda for this girl. Nothing crazy, just a little food - maybe a ham, some chili... you know how it is.
On another note, yet sports related -- I'm very happy to see Curt Schilling is back to blogging at his old blog rather than WEEI. I accidentally discovered that this evening, and I tend to enjoy the political blogs so it will be fun to go back to reading that again regularly.
Today I went and got my lungs re-xrayed (hmmm, not really a word but whatever....) and I am happy to find out that while I still have a bit of a cough - the pneumonia is gone. I still would've liked to have been put on an antibiotic; not that I'm a big advocate of taking medicines, but I'm not convinced that albuterol is going to make this go away. I'm not asthmatic for goodness sake. But suddenly I sound like I'm a smoker! And I'm a runner - not a smoker.... jeesh!
Speaking of athletics -- yesterday my SIL asked if I'd like to do a 175 mile bike run for MS. Of course I said yes! So now I'm off to find a good road bike -- anyone have suggestions? I've got a stationary bike at home to start my training with inside - but in roughly a month we'll start training outdoors so this girl needs to find a lightweight bike. Nothing crazy - I don't know that I"ll be riding very often after this; and I might even buy used. But brands to try - would be a welcome suggestion.
So, I've got a bike run to prep for and of course.... I'm going to start running again. Which reminds me, yesterday was the one year anniversary of having my knee fixed!
Amazing how quickly time flies.....
