It smells like fall...

The air was so crisp this morning, I opened my windows - and suddenly it reminded me of when I was a young girl. It smelled like the first day of school. If you are from New England, then you know what I mean - there's a distinct smell to the fall air that is associated with walking to school in September and October.

Today is going to be nothing but a chili making, pie baking, baseball and football watching kind of day.

I love autumn.

Go Red Sox / Go Patriots....

I'm so jealous! I LOVE New England--so beautiful. Autumn in So California is just hot and windy. And fires, lots of fires. Ugghhh. But I swear I can almost smell pie and chii.

The smell of the leaves which have fallen, the tang in the air, the crispness of the night...

I'd love to relocate somewhere where there is no winter. But if it means giving up the crispy crunch of fall, I'll stay put.

Believe it or not, autumn is falling in Texas too.

I ran across a picture of me at the Gloucester House. It made me think about and go look for your blog. Go get a nice Lobster stuffed with scallops and talk about it here. I would like to have a vicarious dinner. And please leave the beans out of that chili. That is just wrong.

Hey all....

Stephen - I made a pumpkin pie...tommorrow's apple, and then Friday I'll be making sweet potato pie... :)

BigWhite Hat: Welcome! I'm making lobster on Sunday, I'll be sure to post so you can live vicariously! :)

I love autumn, too. It hasn't quite reached us yet but I'm looking forward to the hiatus from this warm weather.
I LOVE pie. I was just talking about it today with the secretary at our school. We decided that we could eat pie for every meal, every day of the week! My favs are blueberry, peach and coconut cream. Sigh...

BigWhiteHat: You and my husband. What's with nixing the beans?!

What - a Yankees fan on my blog??? :)

AJ - is this your first time away from NYC? Are you a recent transplant?

Just remember AJ. In California and Texas we may not get a lot of cool weather in the autumn. But we more than make up for it when New England gets 50' of snow.

I still love the seafood up there.

Rebecca, are you on Cape Anne? That was my favorite part of visiting Mass.

Hey BigWhiteHat: I'm close to Cape Ann, not officially on it, but I'm a north shore girl... ;)

LOVED TX when I went...the best food ever. And also - the scariest thunderstorm I've ever experienced as well... I love weather, esp. lightening storms - but Dalls had the scariest storm I've ever seen.
