I've always been the type of person that if I spend too much time in a place, I pick up the accent pretty easily. A few years back, I was vacationing in Virginia Beach practically every other weekend, and sure enough I had a teensy bit of a drawl. Imagine if I spent any time in England? I'd be asking if you'd "care for a spot of tea" when you came to visit me. Must be that bit of theatrics I've got in me....

Not that much different than yours, considering I've been Florida for close to 4 years, but if I could speak the Southern drawl like you, I would use it for all it is worth.....lol
When you get a chance, check out my blog and see the music video I've added:)
Wow - only 25% Dixie - I was born and lived there until I was 18
15% Yankee - I've only been up here since 1971.
The rest: 40% General American and 10% each Midwest and Upper Midwest (a year of college in Illinois, I suppose)
Never been to the Midwest though.
Interesting little diversion.

Seems like a strange conglomeration to me!! LOL
You damn Yankee!! ;)
I didn't realize there was "Midwestern" and "Upper" Midwestern Linguistics.
But I'm very naive when it comes to this because I always assume that everyone talks just like me....except in the south.
I don't even understand the difference between some of these but....
