All's well that ends well, but....

Last night, my daughter who had come down with a cough after her stomach flu this week - got progressively worse. To the point where she couldn't eat with out coughing. She couldn't talk without coughing. Not to be gross, but coughing to the point of vomiting. She went to bed early, and woke up at 1 a.m. I brought her into bed with me where I would stay up with her as she tried to sleep. As I had my arms around her, I could feel her rapid breathing, and just knew something wasn't right.

I had flashbacks to when my son was hospitalized with pneumonia at the same age and got a sick feeling in my stomach that it was going to be the same thing for her. I mean, I was nauseous thinking about how sick my son was at that time and thinking that my daughter was as bad. I almost took her to Children's right then - but then she fortunately passed out. She only slept for about a half hour but by that time it was 5 a.m. and morning anyway. By 7:30 when she was no better I decided to bring her to Childrens.

Yes, she has pneumonia. And her and I almost had an overnight stay....but fortunately, I got her there early enough, and they gave her antibiotics and IV soon enough to be able to see a positive change in her. She's still so sick, but she was stable enough to go home and not needing oxygen. So a watchful is being kept and if she is no better tomorrow then she has to go back. But I'm thinking she'll be fine and will just be able to be followed up by her pediatrician on Monday.

I'm tired...she's tired.
And tomorrow...... is a new day!
Every day is a new day to have a good day.
Here's to a better day for her.

Oh Rebecca, I so very much hope and pray she is better by tomorrow. I love it when Mom's follow their instincts...they are so much better off when they do. After all, who knows the child better than the Mom?

Get some rest, both of you, if possible!!!!

HUGS!

Hi Martie -
Thanks for your well wishes. She's much better today, still not well but in comparison - it's amazing what a good dose of antibiotics will do. :)

I'm north of Boston too and it has been horrendous up here, kids hospitalized, etc... My kids were so sick for two weeks before Christmas and were on antibiotics and all that coughing!!!! and then wah-lah, I got the coughing virus, needed an inhaler and coughing meds and then, on Christmas eve, Pnuenomia. I cant imagine a little one going through what I went through and am grateful my kids recuperated fast from the thing BEFORE it become pnuemomia. Sorry what yours is going through, hope she is better. I've seen your shop in Boston, I'm going to come in sometime!

You amaze me!!! You ALWAYS have such a positive attitude! No matter what. I love it!!

I'm so glad she's doing better...even if only a little.

the chesneygirl household has been lucky so far this year (*knocking on wood*) not one of us has been sick at all. Not even a sniffle.

Sending chicken soup vibes... :)

I know, I was going to say what Ches said! Incrediboy was sick for most all of December and I was in a mood most foul that it was pathetic.

You rule. That's all there is to say. :)

Hope your baby girl is feeling better soon. Thank God for antibiotics, eh?

Love ya!
