Stewie: Oh my God... It has finally happened, he has become so massive that he collapsed into himself like a neutron star.
Here's the thing - maybe we're spoiled because we saw him at a point in his career where he was amazing. Maybe he was just so good back then, that we're being fooled because now he's just outstanding, which by earlier comparison - looks average.
Listen, he's made no bones that he's all about the Benjamin's and may not necessarily be with the Sox in the future -- so why would he be so concerned about the acquisiton of Wagner? The less than sincere back pedaling that was aired all day and night yesterday was laughable. The truth of the matter is that closers are a different breed; they're like fighter pilots -- crazy, edgy, out of their mind. Pitching wins games, wins championships. Any addition to the staff in any measure is a good one; self preservation, self promotion and all the selfishness should be to the side. There's no "I" in team -- didn't he learn that in Little League? (For the record, I can't think he's all too thrilled with Theo coming out and saying that he's not the "sharpest knife in the drawer".)
Dear Dunkin Donuts: I don't miss you at all. Not even a bit. So little do I miss your terrible tasting coffee -- that I don't even drink coffee during the day on the weekends unless I brew it in my Keurig. (I don't typically travel near a Starbucks on the weekends. Even though I do live in a town that has one, it's on the other side of town and truly -- I don't mind if I don't have one.) I am free from the frustration of wasting my money and though I've already professed my relief -- I felt it worthy to mention it once again.
Dear Wrentham Outlets: You -- I miss dearly. I'm so sorry I have yet to visit you during my "sort of unemployed" period of building the new store. I thought for sure I'd get to; but finances are tight right now and truly -- I can't do it just yet. But I will visit soon....oh yes. I will visit...soon.
Dear Employee at the Store: No offensive, we love you - but please, please -- when a celebrity comes in to shop, please do not announce to everyone in there that there is a celebrity in their midst. Truly, no one likes to feel like they are the center of attention unwittingly -- even, Hollywood celebrities. Trust me. People walk around discreetly and plain for a reason; so as not to attract attention to themselves. Oh, and for the record -- make sure their order is correct. Okay? Yes? Thanks......

Questions for today....
Just wonderin'....
Who's excited about the breaking news CNN just emailed about Kevin Jonas getting engaged?
(Does everyone even know who Kevin Jonas is? And seriously, does he warrant a breaking news flash?!?)
Is anyone else as happy as I am that the state is once again reconsidering the death penalty in special circumstance cases, such as abusive torture and death to children?
Wondering where the Varitek 'naysers are now....? It's been a little quiet in the bashing section.
How sad is it that people are making such a mockery out of Michael Jackson when he's not here to defend himself. And truly, if any of the stories are indeed true - then why isn't there any compassion towards a person who clearly was not happy with himself?
When will I make it back to yoga...?
Does anyone else avoid reading the Fox News website because they always seem to have the most disturbing articles in the Crime section? It's creepy to see the inhumanity.
Will my vegetables grow without the sun...? Isn't that against the basic concept of photosynthesis which is sort of what allows plants to grow? Just sayin...'
What questions are you pondering today.....?

"People live with their own idiosyncrasies and die of their own illnesses."
So, if you find these amusing - great! Feel free to share and add your own because it certainly is comforting to know that I'm not the only crazy girl in the world.
1. I "skeeve" feet. Mine, or any one else's for that matter. Except for my kids -- they have beautiful, perfect little feet. But, to add insult to injury - I have really ugly ones. I think if I could change one thing about me physically it would be to have pretty feet. I actually have a pretty foot; my right foot looks great. My left foot..ugh. Whenever I look down its like looking at two different people's toes! My left foot is a mess, the nails are awful (even though I pedicure!!) they don't maintain as long and I just hate it. I know it's from running and kickboxing, and alot of it has to do with how my feet lay (they go downwards on the edges -- I have flat feet) but still, I don't like them.
2. Speaking of feet... I can't stand being barefoot. To say I hate it, would be an understatement. So I always wear socks in the house. But if the socks get even a hint of water on the bottom, you know from either the kids bath - or maybe just splashing from the sink in the kitchen and I happen to step on it -- I have to change the socks immediately. Or, if I wore the socks when I was cleaning the house, I have to change them as soon as I'm done. Why? Beats me. I feel like they're dirty. Mind you my house is never truly dirty -- but like I said, I'm a headcase about that kind of stuff. It's like my Windexing obsession...which I won't get into again today.
3. Another weird issue I have is leftovers. Not sure why -- but I just don't like to eat them. I prefer my food fresh. I think it's great that other people eat leftovers -- and if I go to someone's house, and they serve me their leftovers (e.g. beef stew, roast, or spaghetti sauce, etc.) I'm fine with it. But in my own house -- can't do it. Exception to the rule: Re-engineering the leftovers. Say, taking a roasted chicken and making the leftovers into a salad or something. But I wouldn't eat a plate of leftover meat loaf. It's just as easy for me to whip up a new meal, than to bother with leftovers. Fortunately, I have not passed this issue onto my kids, as they gloriously enjoy eating whatever I give them - and if it's something that they really enjoyed the night before - even better. Interesting thing is that even when I was a child - I wouldn't eat them either. Maybe my issue today is because I genuinely love to cook?
This is just a scratch on the surface of things that go 'round in this girl's head.
Sure, they're silly - but they're mine and part of what makes me who I am, for better or for worse.

Who cares if it's 9 degrees outside? I'm thinking about Spring Training!
It's not that I'm not digging this football season, because I am. However…
Though the Red Sox have not officially posted their Spring Training reporting date -- at least not that I have seen -- traditionally, catchers (um, Jason!) and pitchers report mid February. Which is…45-ish days away.
I can't wait.
I would love to buy season's tickets. Here's my issue though. I have to be honest….I'm sort of a ticket snob. If I'm going to an event -- be it a Red Sox game, a concert, a sporting event --anything that requires assigned seating and admission, I need to be as close as I can possibly be. I'm sort of spoiled that way. I know, it's a bad thing - but there are just some things that are worth the extra money. For example, a person I work with is kind enough to share some of his season's tickets seats with me. He gives me one game a year from his package of 12 or 13 -- and he's right on the first baseline. Best seats I've ever sat in because you get such an awesome perspective of the whole game. Then when I buy tickets on my own, I almost always buy in the same section or behind home plate -- or on the third baseline. I'm my own worst enemy, I know. But it's worth it. And affordable, relatively - if buying single ticket games. But to purchase season's tickets in those locations? Well, first of all - good luck finding any because very rarely do any in those sections become available; there are waiting lists a mile long. But even if they did -- they're exceptionally expensive. At the same time, to buy seats with a group of people like I used to do for the Bruins, isn't a bad thing. To split with three people would be perfect. I just don't know anyone who could afford to - or would want to - split all those games.
The trade rumors have been relatively quiet, which isn't a surprise given the holidays…but I'm thinking the Santana situation is going to arise once again, and quickly.
And didn't I read somewhere that CC Sabathia is a free agent as well…..?

Everything happens for a reason...
This is the mantra I tell myself all the time.
And today is one of those days that I have to say it. Again. And again.
A little snag is coming up in my new venture. And it is all hanging in the balance in the moment. Part of the reason of why I'm being so vague is because well…sometimes I'm superstitious and think that if I speak too soon - it won't come to fruition at all.
(Sort of like watching a baseball game. If I haven't been watching and the Sox are up when I turn it on - and then start to slip, I change the channel thinking "its because I'm watching!". Or, during the playoffs - if I'm wearing a certain tshirt while watching the game, I won't wear any other tshirt while watching because it's got some sort of "luck" associated with it. While I know rationally and logically that can't possibly be the case…I still can't risk it! But I digress...)
Which is when I have to remind myself that "everything happens for a reason".
If it’s meant to be – it will be.
And if not, then something else was meant to be.
It’s just frustrating because I am THIS close to it, and I am really excited about it.
And, that doesn’t mean it isn’t going to happen. It just means it’s in the balance at the moment.
I can’t wait to run after work so I can shake some of this anxiety and think quiet, happy thoughts.

Hi, I'm Rebecca...and I'm an addict.
It's true.
I've mentioned it before. I’m a mascara addict.
I went to the mall at lunch today with a girlfriend, just to pick up a skirt at Ann Taylor that the sales rep forgot to put in my bag. (Oh yes, imagine my horror last night when I went to go try it on, and it was gone!). I swear that's all I went for.
Well, maybe that and this new MAC lipglass that I just love love love: CHAI LIPGLASS
http://www.maccosmetics.com/templates/products/search_results.tmpl?KEYWORDS=chai
But that was it - I swear.
My girlfriend however, wanted to go to Sephora. And while we were there, we engaged in a conversation as to how to make her eyes look larger. And that turned into the sales rep giving her a cosmetic application. Which in turn caused my fascination to mascara to bear it's ugly little head when I heard my own voice leave my body and ask "so….what kind of mascara is that you're using?".
Truth be told, I sort of hoped she'd say it was something like Dior or Givenchy - brands I've already tried and been disappointed with. But no. She says a name I'm entirely unfamiliar with….and my breath catches in my throat. I hear myself say, "hmmm. I'd like to try some."
Now, mind you that I put it on over my already decent mascara - but, this is amazing. A -- mazing. So good, I got three unsolicited compliments from people in the store who had no idea that I was planning on buying mascara. I was already mentally committed but after comments, it was a no brainer.
TOO FACED LASH INJECTION

Requiem of a dream…
Normally, there's only one or two key people in my dream that I know in "real life" - and normally I know why I'm dreaming the scenario. They're relatively easy to interpret.
But more often than not, my friends in the dream - are my friends in the dream, but no one I know in real life. Does that make sense?
So last night's dream was interesting.
My friends Lynne and Kathy M/D (friends in real life) and I flew to see a Red Sox game in Los Angeles. But no one was there really, it was practically empty. So we sat near the players dugout. Funny thing is, the stadium was like a little league field as opposed to a major league stadium. So, we're sitting near the players and of course, Jason Varitek was there. But he wasn't in uniform. He was wearing an orange shirt and jeans, as if it was like an "off day" for him. So anyway, of course I couldn't even look in his direction and my girlfriends kept trying to get him to notice me. They were like saying my name really loud and whatnot, and I just kept looking away. One of the girls spilled a drink and I looked over and saw him looking our way and laughing. Then he said "Hi Rebecca", but he mispronounced my name. It was like "Reb-ec-ca", sort of robotic and I said "that's not how you say my name!" and he laughed and said "I know, I was just trying to make you laugh". And then I looked at him and it was like a movie from my perspective - he was laughing and just smiling so happily, not at me - but with me. The next thing I remember, I'm clearly dating him but now he's a football player, and he's playing a game. I'm at a stadium and I’m with all the football players' wives - but they're far older than I am. And they keep clamoring around "Mrs. Shula". And I said, "oh, I love Shula's restaurant. Best steaks ever…everything's ala carte, and it's wonderful". Then one of the women says to me "she cooks it all herself you know". And I said "she cooks what?" and the woman replies "all the food at the restaurant. She does it all herself.." and I look at her shaking my head saying "that's impossible, one woman cant' cook all that food for multiple restaurants! You mean she created the menus, right?" ….and that's all I remember.
I can't for the life of me figure out what it means - if it means anything at all. Normally, a dream this vivid means something. Yet, this one's just so random. I mean what would I even try to look up?
It's not as if I can find an entry in the dream dictionary for "Jason Varitek"!
Go figure...

Funny thing happened to me yesterday....
First time I noticed this was on Tuesday as I was in the vets office, picking up my cat from being declawed. I went to pay, and realized that I did not have my debit card on me. The last time I had remembered using it was when I got my hair cut -- two Fridays ago. So now I'm panicking as I call my bank to verify that no one has used it since that date. Fortunately, no one had - so easily enough we stopped that card and reissued another one. I left the card inside of the ATM machine within my branch. How stupid! I mean, I know that I'm not the first person to misplace their ATM card, but truly - how preoccupied was I that I couldn't remember to take it with me? I didn't think I had that much on my mind that day, but clearly I did.
Wednesday, I had a splitting headache that literally just spring upon me as I was driving home (and still have, truth be told). One minute I was fine, the next minute - raging headache. And I just wasn't in the mood to cook. I wanted something cool and refreshing…so I thought, "aaah. Sushi!". So when I got home, I grabbed my daughter and took her with me to what I thought was the closest Whole Foods. (Word to the wise, the Woburn store is REALLY in Winchester - so while Woburn is one town away - Winchester is not, and it took what felt like forever to get there!) Anyway. I get my food - and as I'm leaving, the carriage somehow cuts my pinky toe (I was wearing flip flops) and this teensy tiny nick on my pinky toe is bleeding like I've been amputated. So now my daughter is upset seeing me bleed, there's blood gushing -- I mean puddling in my flip flop - and I'm trying to get her and the groceries into my truck. Meanwhile, two people get out of their car and walk by me and say "Oh Miss, do you know you're bleeding?". In my head I'm thinking "hell yes I know I'm bleeding thank you!" but I politely smile and say "yes, I know, thank you - I'll look for a tissue after I load up my truck". So now I'm mortified on top of injured while my daughter is being uncooperative. Despite this, I put the carriage away - because I don't want to leave it in the middle of the lot even though I'm being completely grossed out.
What did I forget to bring with me, as I drove away?
My wallet. Sitting right in the top of the carriage………..but I didn't know that at the time.
Oh no. I discovered that yesterday morning on my way to work. In Burlington.
I realize that I must've left my wallet at home.
So I drive all the way home, to discover my wallet wasn't there.
(Insert wave of panic rushing through me, HERE. Oh and that headache that I thought was gone with the sushi? Returned.)
I very calmly call Whole Foods, where I'm pleased to discover that my wallet was graciously returned by a passerby who noticed I left it. So back up 128 to Burlington I drive - to go into Winchester to get my wallet before heading into work.
I'm not normally so scattered. But clearly, I'm a bit preoccupied as of late.
Must be that whole "not getting to see Jason" thing that's gone to my head.
Kidding….

So, I'm either very hormonal....
I'll take the latter.
(A girl will never admit to being hormonal.)
Last night I watched three episodes in a row, finishing with the drowning episode of Meredith and how she's brought back to life.
Call me sappy, call me crazy...call me a girl.
While I didn't cry as in sobbing cry....I did have a few tears silently running down my cheek more than once in that episode.
I'm so bummed that I'm almost at the end of this season - and wouldn't you know, as I was watching yet another Isiah Washington interview last night, they gave me a spoiler on the finale. Which really stinks. But that's okay. Given the fact that he's off the show, I sort of knew something like that was happening.
And that is another rant for another day...just the Isiah Washington interview on Larry King alone is rant worthy.
In due time....

Lesson Learned...
I didn't go to work today, I had woken up with a headache - and truthfully deserved a day off.
And, I desperately needed a trim - and my stylist can't squeeze me in before July.
What's a girl to do?
I only needed a trim. How bad could it be??
Don't ask. That bad.
The upside is, I did get to take two 1.5 hour classes of yoga! Three hours of yoga...!
Say it with me: "Ommm".
I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight!
Happy Friday!

Reason # 1353 as to why I can't bake....
Case in point. Saturday, it was lousy out. I took the kids to one of our favorite places - The Butterfly Place. It was pouring out, so an ice cream was out of the question for afterwards. It just wasn't a Kimballs kind of day. So I said, "lets go home, put on our cozy clothes - and bake a cake!". Well, while I was prepping for the cake, I realized I had no frosting. You can't have cake without frosting....so I thought, hmmm. I'll make my own frosting. Except.....
I had no confectioners sugar. So I thought, if I pureed my granulated sugar fine enough - voila! Confectioners sugar. No such luck. Maybe if I had a real food processor....? So, our frosting was a little, crunchy I guess you could say. Of course plain frosting wouldn't be enough...I threw in baking cocoa and coconut. Tasted okay, but the consistency was really bugging me. So....I added peanut butter to try to smooth it out. Tasted fantastic...still crunchy. Sigh. So, I thought I'd double boil it on the stove to melt it out and smooth it up. You guessed it.....still crunchy-ish.
Fortunately, the kids don't care how perfect the frosting is - they just wanted to eat it.
The cake? Well, it came out okay. And despite the fact that I greased AND floured the bottom as I was supposed to - it still stuck a little. So I had to cut it out of the pan. No pretty cake plate decorated with ribbons for this girl.
I've got nothing on Martha Stewart!
I'm a bit more Rachel Ray, but without all the yelling.

Brush, Brush, Brush your teeth...keep them clean each day!
Well, it’s true.
Since I’ve never had one before, and don’t know truly what it feels like – I’m thinking that I have a little cavity on the side of one of my molars.
Shocking.
Although, given my gum chewing habit.....and the fact that I do tend to swish my coffee on the right side of my mouth (yes, I swish my coffee sometimes. Just one of my many “quirks”.), my recent indulgence in chocolate (which I hardly ever ate before); I suppose it shouldn’t really come as that much of a surprise. I guess I just figured, you know....I was out of the realm of possibility of getting cavities any more. I mean, I’m a “grown up”. And I brush my teeth constantly.
Clearly, the cavity causing bacteria that is living in my mouth disagrees with that theory. So, I need to make a dentist appointment.
Here in lies the dilemma.
While I love, love, love going to the dentist to have a cleaning, that is because I never ever have cavities. So my “fear” of the dentist has always been gone. But now I’ve come to discover it’s just been “in hiding”. Truly, it’s not my fear of the dentist so much as it is my fear of having novacaine. (I know, am I a fruit loop or what?) I hate needles. Hate them. When I was pregnant with my children, I still had to have the nurse hold my hand whenever I had blood drawn. I don’t cry or anything silly like that....but I would prefer to have someone to distract me and give me something to squeeze. Funny thing is, it hardly ever really hurts. It’s just the psychological anticipation of the needle that I have a hard time with. This is partly the reason as to why I’ve been procrastinating on getting a tattoo. It’s the whole needle thing.
Sigh........
Anyone willing to come hold my hand the day I have to get my very first filling?

If you need somebody you can trust, trust yourself.
Not sure where they came from, or why I have them – yet there they are.
Well, that’s not exactly a true statement. I actually do know why I have them and where they came from. They didn’t stem from having a bad childhood or anything like that, actually quite the opposite. I was rather naïve to the dynamics of bad relationships (not just in the romantic sense, but in general) prior to my being in my mid-20s. As a result of this “learning” experience, I have huge issues with being open and honest about my feelings. I can clearly finger point and identify where they came from and how I became this way. This doesn’t mean that I’m dishonest when I’m expressing myself, but I don’t open up when I’m not in a good mood, I just mask it with a good mood “appearance”. And I never, ever share if something is bothering me. I don’t feel that I can trust people with my vulnerabilities and weaknesses. So I pretend that there really aren’t any. There are very few people that I feel “safe” with; I’ve had so many people use my vulnerabilities against me as tools to manipulate me – I just don’t do it anymore. It’s not a part of me that I like, because the lines between who I can’t trust with “me”, and who I can – have become blurry. And I will isolate my emotions from those who I can trust; they’ve seen the difference in me and it hurts their feelings.
This isn’t to be confused with my inherent personality of being an internalist; I’ve always dealt with things and problems on my own and in my own head, but that was by choice. Not because I couldn’t. And I’ve evolved into someone who feels that she can’t – which is entirely different. I’m not really liking that part of me.
Why am I thinking about this today? I’m not sure. Maybe it’s because I’m so excited to see my best friend tomorrow, who I haven’t seen in far too long; and the last time I saw her, she told me how she notices this change in me and it bothers her to think that I don’t trust her. When I do, implicitly.
I’m not sure how to fix this about me, but I’m working on it. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:
I’m forever a work in progress.

Smile - It's the second best thing you can do with your lips...
Ever since then, I can always tell when I’m fighting something because my bottom lip really does get swollen. “Angelina Jolie-type-of-puffy” – feels like it’s “in the way” kind of pouty. I usually end up biting it (one of my bad habits) because it’s annoyingly noticeable. Who needs collagen implants – clearly I just need to have a cold or something to get that look that people pay thousands of dollars for.
What’s funny is that my son is the same way. His lips get really full when he’s sick, or right before he comes down with something. My daughter’s don’t – but my son, who already has really nice lips (watch out little 5 year old girls who will someday be teenagers!) definitely has that whole pouty thing going on when he’s not feeling well.
It’s funny the different traits that get passed down from parent to child.

When will cold season ever end....?
My daughter is in the midst of a crazy cold, which I’m hoping will be better by tomorrow so as not to put a kink into our get together with my cousin. He’s engaged and his fiancée has a daughter who is the same age as my son, so they’re all ramped up to spend time together. It’s not as if my daughter is deathly ill, but if she’s really still all runny nosed I don’t know how fair it is for me to bring her to their house and expose them all to the cold. So I’m hoping she clears up a bit over the next 24 hours.
My son, who just recently got over his very first case of Strep throat was complaining last night that his throat bothered him again. Fortunately, my pharmacist always overfills the amoxicillin bottle in an effort to help parents who have kids that fight taking medicine, and turn their heads or spit it out everywhere. So I still had two doses or so left from his prescription that he finished taking on the 18th. I gave him a dose last night – and one today. He says he’s feeling much better, but I wonder if it’s just because he took the medicine he’s thinking he feels better. See while I’m glad the pharmacist over fills – what he doesn’t realize is that my kids love medicine. Sometimes, they’ll make up excuses to take it. Amoxicillan? Love it Robitussin – they love that I think more than any medicine.
I on the other hand, don’t like to take medicine at all unless I absolutely have to. Even when recovering from my C-section in the hospital, I told the doctors to give me the least amount of pain medication possible in my drip, and even at that – I didn’t take it. I remember the nurse coming in and saying “you have to use that!” and I was like “um, no I don’t.” Truthfully, I was uncomfortable at times -- sure... but even the lowest dose of the medicine made me foggy and I do not like feeling that way at all.....so needless to say, medicine and I don’t go “hand in hand”.
I’m hoping that this afternoon’s hot yoga will clear my system up of all the “yukkiness” I’m feeling and will give me the boost of energy I need to fight off whatever it is that I’m feeling I might be coming down with.

Never a dull moment....
However – when there’s a real time emergency, the weather has no bearing on the situation. And today – we had a real situation. One of the lights in my group’s front office had a ballast blow, which can trigger a fire. And it seems it was smoldering....so the fire department was called and we were all evacuated.
Good thing I wore my jacket today, huh?Sounds like a silly statement, since we’ve been in the single digits and teens for the past few days; but I park so close to my office building – and I hate wearing a jacket while I’m driving – so I often don’t wear one at all. I’m far more sensitive to cold air indoors than I am outdoors. I mean, if I was to be out for a prolonged period of time, sure I’d be freezing. But to walk from my car to the building? C’mon – I’m a New Englander!
So while I’m always in work with my cube heater on and blanket on the back of my chair, available for wrapping up in at any given time – I’m often seen walking to and from my car or going to get coffee with no coat on – even in the dead of winter.
Weird, I know. But this is who I am......!
