Dear Mr President....

So, I'm watching the State of the Union right now.

I have to tell you, he's a fabulous speaker. Magnaminous, eloquent, and inspirational. I love listening to his speeches because you can't help but gravitate to him and feel warm and safe.

However, I do disagree with many of his policies; he's far too liberal for my taste.
But as a person, how can one not enjoy him.

Politics becomes so personal - because it's about things we care deeply about.
But we should be able to take the hostility and resentment towards the individual who holds the office and eliminate it; because when the day is done - it's just their job. Whether we agree or disagree with the angles that they take - you have to hope that their vision is with the best of intent for our country.

And how can you hold that against someone, on a personal level?
I, for one - can't do that.

He's a funny little man.....

So, here's a name for you: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

I have to tell you, I laugh every time he gets our media's attention. He is one of the funniest people I've ever seen. Truly. I think it's hysterical how he sort of just runs at the mouth, saying anything to anyone who will give him the time of day. And what's so sad is that our press sops it up like drippings off Thanksgiving turkey.

Did you know that he's going to plan a terrorist conference "next year" no less (how's that for urgency) on who the "real" purpetrators of 9/11 were. (Here's a spoiler for you - he thinks the American government did it. Clearly, he's a carrying card member of the crazy club.)

You want a good laugh - read some of his speeches, or watch some of his clips.
Seriously - he's a freaking riot.

"Let's roll..." Todd Beamer

Hard to believe yet another year has gone by since the tragedy of 9/11.

It's true that time heals all wounds; it's not nearly as raw of a remembrance as it was even just a few years ago. But it still has an awing impact on me, whenever I see footage of that morning. It takes my breath away every time.

Fortunately, the American spirit is strong and we bounced back far quicker than I think the perpetrators of our innocence that day had planned on. Though we easily divide on topics and people that govern our country, we always unite when others prey upon us.

I am proud to be an American; and I know that I'm fortunate and blessed to have been born here with all the freedoms and liberties that come with it.

I thought this was a little less than traditional but certainly appropo video to share for today. Budweiser, though no longer an American company - will always stand for Americana and tradition. This commerical which aired only once, was a lovely and simple tribute that I thought everyone might enjoy.

Riddle me this Batman....

I just drove through 5 states this past week: Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey & Pennsylvania. And I mean literally through all of them; coming home, we came an entirely different way which took us through a completely different area of New York than the way we came in, which was through the city.

Do you know that there were more tolls, and for more money - over a shorter distance, no less -- in Massachusetts? No word of a lie. The shortest distances travelled were the most expensive in my own state. Why is that?

Did I mention that our roads were in the worst condition? Right......
What are the tolls paying for anyway??? The Big Dig Fiasco, that's still one of the worst looking eye sores in all of history? The faulty tiles that killed innocent passengers in the tunnel? State employees wages?

Anyone..? Anyone...?
Bueller.......?

Upside down...you turn me inside out, and round...round...

So, today was quite the rollercoaster kind of day.
I should've gone to yoga and de-toxified......but it was late, and I instead ate Chinese food and had a glass of wine.

It started off okay... and then it sort of hit a bump.
The location I opened my store in, was a dry town previously - meaning no alcohol. Well, someone wrote to the paper and complained about having a store such as mine in town - and got City Hall involved by calling them out publicly; so, I had the Liquor Commission come by today to inform me that they're going to address the complainant and that while they feel I've got the gourmet aspect down well -- I should bring even more items in to keep people like him quiet.

Mmmkay. I always thought majority ruled, but I guess that squeaky wheel wins more often than not. And trust me when I tell you, I've got lots of gourmet going on in there. I add new food weekly, so I'm not at all concerned about that. It's just frustrating that I bring commerce to the community and run a great business - and I've got to worry about someone who's admittedly never stepped foot into my shop, and their opinions? Interesting.

Case in point: as I was feeling less than happy with the aforementioned conversation, I recieve a fantastic phone call from the Chamber of Commerce telling me that this month's edition of Boston Magazine gives us a fantastic little plug! How exciting!

So, in the past month - the store has been featured on Chronicle, WBZ Radio's Connoiseur Corner, WDIS AM Fairness Doctrine, the Boston Globe's Bargain Bins -- and now Boston Magazine. I couldn't be any more fortunate in the media department, truly.

I went to visit my Mother afterwards, and had an.....interesting visit. I'm not going to comment more on it, other than to say it was a good visit -- but an emotional one; and I hadn't been prepared for that. She looks fantastic, you truly wouldn't think her prognosis is what it is. It's almost mindblowing at times....

Anyway, needless to say - I'm tired, and while I should have gone straight to the studio for an intensely hot class, I opted for the easy way out complete with a glass of wine.

Truthfully, I don't know which one would help me sleep better tonight.
But tomorrow, is another day.....

You say you want a revolution.....

I'm all for the Tea Party coming to Massachusetts.
Taxation without representation is something that we should all be opposed to; and being a purveyor of alcohol -- we feel one of the pains first hand with the recent taxes imposed.

But I'm sorry.....
Sarah Palin is not whom I identify with.

I have some issues with her being the voice at the Party.
It's not that she's a Republican, because clearly I don't have issue with that. It's her. Almost everything about her rubs me the wrong way. So much so that even when she's on point with her comments, I can't even hear what she's saying because I'm already put off.

I'd have much preferred almost anyone else to be here and speak out.
Thoughts?

The transparency is disturbing....

So, here's what I want to know.....

Is anyone else picking up on the absolute and complete assasination attempt that is going on towards Toyota?

Is it a coincidence that our President, is Chief CEO and stock holder of General Motors? I think not.

What also isn't a coincidence, nor does it take a rocket scientist to figure out -- is what is probably the most disturbing plan of propaganda to come out of this administration. The attempts to destroy the reputation of the number one imported vehicle in the country -- possibly the world -- is just so disturbing. The blatantly transparent effort to sway the American consumers to lose faith in that company and therefore opt to shop, oh I don't know.... American? Not to say that I don't agree with shopping American for vehicles if thats what you choose, but let's be honest -- Toyota is probably the most sound vehicle of any country's make -- on the market today.

People may briefly opt to shop elsewhere -- but I assure you, that won't last long.

It's unfortunate that so little about our Executive in Chief being in such a position of power at one of the most poorly managed American companies has been expressed in the media.

But alas....the public is nothing more than confused sheep following a very fickle shepherd.

Lyrically speaking...

Well we dig our heels in
And wonder who's gonna win...
Who is gonna win it or wear it out
I change the lock on the door
Or learn how to take a little more
I can outrun all of the devils there
But never the doubt
Try not to throw all your money into 20/20 vision
For the world won't wait on politics or indecision...

Life is just a fantasy, can you live this fantasy life.....

(What ever happened to Aldo Nova? They were sooo good back in the day!)

It's just 22 short days until Pitchers and (ahem) Catchers report!
Thank goodness. It's been a long, long, long offseason.
Speaking of off seasons.....

How fun is it going to be to watch the Superbowl this year and not be overly emotionally invested into it!! It's going to be great to watch the game and root for the Saints. I do believe a little Superbowl Party is going to be on the agenda for this girl. Nothing crazy, just a little food - maybe a ham, some chili... you know how it is.

On another note, yet sports related -- I'm very happy to see Curt Schilling is back to blogging at his old blog rather than WEEI. I accidentally discovered that this evening, and I tend to enjoy the political blogs so it will be fun to go back to reading that again regularly.

Today I went and got my lungs re-xrayed (hmmm, not really a word but whatever....) and I am happy to find out that while I still have a bit of a cough - the pneumonia is gone. I still would've liked to have been put on an antibiotic; not that I'm a big advocate of taking medicines, but I'm not convinced that albuterol is going to make this go away. I'm not asthmatic for goodness sake. But suddenly I sound like I'm a smoker! And I'm a runner - not a smoker.... jeesh!

Speaking of athletics -- yesterday my SIL asked if I'd like to do a 175 mile bike run for MS. Of course I said yes! So now I'm off to find a good road bike -- anyone have suggestions? I've got a stationary bike at home to start my training with inside - but in roughly a month we'll start training outdoors so this girl needs to find a lightweight bike. Nothing crazy - I don't know that I"ll be riding very often after this; and I might even buy used. But brands to try - would be a welcome suggestion.

So, I've got a bike run to prep for and of course.... I'm going to start running again. Which reminds me, yesterday was the one year anniversary of having my knee fixed!

Amazing how quickly time flies.....

Letters of the day....

1. Dear "Concerned Citizens", it's enough already.....I've started receiving "disapproving" letters at the store..... it's so wild. The city we opened in used to be dry, and there apparently is a large community of reformed alcoholics that live there. Well, for the last three weeks I've recieved letters from "concerned" members of the community that are almost all identical in style, format and verbiage. It's interesting because I wonder what they expect from writing them. Do they think that we'd suddenly stop selling alcohol? I'm sorry but I don't think that's going to happen. I have actually written back to each one so far; nicely, and politely of course - because I think it's important that they feel they're opinion is respected - but also in a way to kindly let them know that we are responsible business owners and that we are aren't new at this. I think it's a good thing because it makes them feel their issues are addressed -- and I feel better because I'm addressing it.

2. Dear Mariah Carey, I do believe that G and I are going to see you on Saturday! Very exciting... There are a few people that I think are worth paying crazy money to go sit front row-ish to see, and she is one of them. Of course, my girl Christina Aguilera is another....if only she would tour!

3. Dear Celebrities, what the flip are you thinking? So, I'm watching Celebrity Rehab and just blown away by it. I mean, I love this show - and it's not the first time I've seen it -- but truly, it's so disturbing to see people who had the world in the palm of their hands and just blew it..... ugh. I mean, it's one thing when it's a sad scenario to be a drug addict because maybe you had a horrible life and had no little or chances in life; but when you're a freaking celebrity?!? And you fall into drug addiction because you could....??? C'mon.

4. Dear Mr. President, you are such the eloquent speaker. However, I couldn't help but feel like calling you "President Santa Claus" during your speech. Money for everyone!!! Listen, I'm all about making life easier, but truly - let's be realistic about it. I did however, enjoy portions of it - your charisma is fabulous -- but sometimes the beauty of how you say things overshadows what you're actually saying. It's sort of like the art of telling someone to go to hell in such a way that they actually thank you - and then ask for the directions.

5. Dear Friends, Family & Anyone who knows me, I am not a perfect person. I've never professed to be -- I am and will forever be a work in progress. And I'm proud to say that. I am who I am, and though I know that I always have things about me I can work on - we still shouldn't lose the core of who we are. I've tried very hard over the years to choose my battles, and that has a lot to do with realizing the things I can and can not change. This includes how other people live their lives. Embracing that makes life so much easier.

Top 10.... the first of a few (I think!)

So, I thought I'd list a few of my Top 10's for this year.
The first one being the Top 10 Surprises of This Girl's Life for 2009.

Truly, not in any particular order because there wasn't any one surprise that stood out -- and they cover all topics, not just me per se -- and here they are:

1o. Finding out that my torn meniscus - was really a calcified infrapatella plica that was lodged in my knee joint & ACL! That was totally a surprise. But, a better surprise than it having been my ACL being torn, which was initially what he thought when he went in there.
9. The circus surrounding Tiger Woods. Truly -- does anyone really care? Not this girl. Moving on....
8. Manny & David Ortiz testing positive for steriods. I have to say -- yes, I was surprised about Manny -- and disappointed.
7. My daughter's PreK closing. That was a total shock and surprise and out of nowhere. Fortunately, she took it in stride.
6. Michael Jackson's passing. Truly, that was surprising, sad and almost surreal. The best thing about it though was the resurgence of his music -- my kids love him. Which is really fun to see.
5. The big discrimination case that got to Presidential Level from the Harvard Professor who I won't even dignify naming. Seriously -- are you kidding me?!?!! Wasted time on everyone's behalf. It was obnoxious.
4. President Obama receiving the Nobel Prize. Truly -- this girl thinks he should've politely declined with the caveat that he'd gladly receive after some time in office should they reconsider him next year.
3. I have not brought home one piece of cheese from my store. Seriously, my favorite thing in the world and I have yet to bring any home for myself to enjoy. Can you imagine??
2. Not signing Mark Texeira. For just a second, didn't we all just scratch our heads and say "huh?" Sure that was December '08 but the effect lingered into the new year.
1. The finale of this season's Dexter. I have three words for that one, and it's "Oh My God." 'Nuff said.

Sure, there may be more.... but this is the first list - and there may be crossover to come.
Tomorrow will be a new list of "Top 10" something or other...!

Questions for today....

Can you be virtually waterlogged by the fact that it has rained for 4 weeks straight?
Just wonderin'....

Who's excited about the breaking news CNN just emailed about Kevin Jonas getting engaged?
(Does everyone even know who Kevin Jonas is? And seriously, does he warrant a breaking news flash?!?)

Is anyone else as happy as I am that the state is once again reconsidering the death penalty in special circumstance cases, such as abusive torture and death to children?

Wondering where the Varitek 'naysers are now....? It's been a little quiet in the bashing section.

How sad is it that people are making such a mockery out of Michael Jackson when he's not here to defend himself. And truly, if any of the stories are indeed true - then why isn't there any compassion towards a person who clearly was not happy with himself?

When will I make it back to yoga...?

Does anyone else avoid reading the Fox News website because they always seem to have the most disturbing articles in the Crime section? It's creepy to see the inhumanity.

Will my vegetables grow without the sun...? Isn't that against the basic concept of photosynthesis which is sort of what allows plants to grow? Just sayin...'

What questions are you pondering today.....?

A moment to give thanks.....

Memorial Day is one of the few times each year that we take a moment to thank those who defend our freedoms and liberties -- past, present and future. Whatever you do this weekend, outside of the weddings and cookouts that typically take place - take a moment to somehow honor those who have enlisted voluntarily to protect your points of view -- even those of you who disagree with our country; it's those who offer to wear the uniform that allow you to have the ability to disagree without fear of repercussion.

Breaking it in Taxachusetts...

The government in our state has voted to approve a sales tax for alcoholic beverages purchased in a retail store. In the opinion of the lawmakers, this is a a change that would bring in an estimated $80 million for "substance-abuse programs".

Substance abuse programs?
Because there aren’t any other things that the money could go towards?

This is not to say that I am not in support of substance abuse programs – however, given the economy and the current fiscal state we find the Commonwealth in, I think there are a variety of other ways to spread the extra income that might be earned. And I say might…have the lawmakers on the Hill not taken into regard that everyone these days are changing they way that they spend their money – and now people may opt not to purchase these products in Massachusetts, if there is any possibility that they don’t have to?

Color me crazy, but it is abundantly apparent that lawmakers took into consideration the fact that Massachusetts is not just Boston proper. Beacon Hill, Newbury Street, Back Bay, Wellesley, Newton….these areas aren’t the 'burbs. So while there is a real possibility that stores in Boston may not be impacted as tremendously (outside of the inconvenience with pricing modifications, and of course potentially paying tremendously more in taxes) – this increase in tax can and will have the potential to virtually kill smaller beverage businesses that are anywhere in the 25 mile radius to NH. Does this state not care at all about it’s small business community?

To add insult to injury – this is going to be potential affecting the job market for some; yet creating more jobs for the IRS. New tax divisions are going to be set up I’m sure, to regulate this new tax on alcoholic beverage retailers. So more job creation for the federal and government sector….potentially hundreds of jobs lost in the private sector.

Not to mention the increase in sales tax on traditionally taxed items being raised 25%. That is a tremendous jump.

I live in a community that it is located on 93, so it is just as quick and easy for me to shop in NH as it is in MA for many of my items. And truthfully, I shop in NH 9 out of 10 times --partly if for nothing more than less traffic congestion, and most especially for large ticket items to avoid paying the tax as it stands today. An increase to the sales tax is a laughable way to attempt to generate revenue for the Commonwealth. It is however, a sure fire way to potentially eliminate revenue, because there are already people like myself who shop online and out of state; how many others will potentially follow that lead?

Here’s a thought… clearly, there’s no interest in Welfare reform or remodification of other programs that might be thick in the waist with spending. How about a pay cut for these law makers who represent “we the people”.

I know I personally took a small pay cut, (twice actually) – to stay in a job I really enjoyed. Times were tight, the contracts changed and the companies didn’t pay as much as a previous one. But I loved my job – it wasn’t a tremendous cut – and it was worth it to me in the long run.

Why don’t the public servants all support a vote to either not receive a pay increase this year….or maybe even receive a slight pay decrease? I’m thinking that the monies generated from their generosity could go towards things that this state truly needs.

Like buying down the debt of the Big Dig for one.

But what do I know? I’m just a taxpayer and a small business owner.
And clearly, I’m going to be getting it from both ends.

Case in point....

As I went on in my last post about Michael Phelps and how he has been treated unfairly in the media as a result of his extracurricular activity on Superbowl Sunday.....news was breaking about Alex Rodriguez and his involvement in using performance enhancing drugs.

These are drugs that are not used socially, nor for the purpose of "feeling good", or any other type of descriptor that a person who uses recreational drugs might suggest.

These are drugs that are used specifically for the purpose of becoming better than what they are genetically capable of being. To cheat not only the fans of any given sport of their ability, but to cheat the sport itself.

Anyone can take a drug and become an exaggeration of who they are and the capabilities they may possess naturally; but to not take anything to enhance and exaggerate -- despite the availability to do so, and still succeed -- in my mind, is a true athlete.

Let's use the ultimate vanity sport of bodybuilding, for an example. There are body builders who are natural. Then there are those who aren't. I have far more admiration and respect for a person who can sculpt their body to a maximum muscular potential and shape by hard work, exercise and nutrition. That is a beautiful thing to see. Once they start using any type of performance enhancement drug (and yes, though body building isn't a true athletic skill - it is a performance enhancer that they use, as much of an oxymoron that might seem...) I lose the respect I had previously. To use them, is to cheat; it is to chemically enhance and re-engineer their bodies into becoming something that they aren't naturally capable of being, putting them at an unfair advantage against those who do not choose to take these kinds of enhancements.

There are many athletes in the sport of baseball who have been "caught" taken anabolic steroids and HGH - and have owned the mistake. Listen, good people make bad choices. That's a part of life. But when you have athletes that not only didn't necessarily need to use them, and then either categorically deny or choose not to address the issue when caught - leaves a bitter taste in the mouth of their fans. As well as amongst their peers, I'm sure.

Alex Rodriguez, in my personal opinion - is of poor character, period. This latest release of information does not come as a surprise to me. It isn't even a disappointment any longer. He cheated on his wife numerous times. He cheated this last time very publicly with a woman who was married at the time. (This doesn’t make Madonna any better, but truly - we expect that of her anyway.) He attempted to cheat in baseball during a crucial game. He has made Bush League attempts in thwarting other teams from winning. We are not talking about a "good person who made a bad choice". We are talking about someone with little integrity, and no respect for boundaries or rules.

The unfortunate part of it all, is that he a naturally gifted person. He didn't need to have to use these drugs. There are some players who truly have shortcomings and may have felt the need to use in an effort to stay on their game. This does not ring true for one of the most talented baseball players in recent years. And to me, if he was to come forward and even try to use that as an excuse as to why he used - to this girl, it would fall on deaf ears. It sounds like an excuse, not an apology.

Most importantly, and I think this is a piece of the puzzle that quite often gets overlooked - these players are cheating themselves and their families - of their lives. These athletes will bald faster, age quicker, develop potential kidney and or heart disease - or even worse, potentially induce a cancerous growth. It is not healthy to consume chemicals to modify DNA, or products created for animals into the human body for no reason other than to accentuate and accelerate muscular potential and strength.

It is a shame that this is what athletes feel they need to do to their bodies in order to be competitive -- and the message that it is sending to children who look up to these players is just all wrong.

But that's just this girl's opinion.
*****
Edited, 2:44pm:
Alex Rodriguez has confirmed during an interview this afternoon with ESPN's Peter Gammons that he used performance-enhancing drugs from 2001-03 while a member of the Texas Rangers.

"I was young, I was stupid, I was naive, and I wanted to prove to everyone that I was worth . . . being one of the greatest players of all time," Rodriguez told Gammons in an interview recorded this afternoon. "I did take a banned substance and for that I am very sorry and deeply regretful."

As I said....I'm throwing the BS card on that.
Excuses, PR spin and saving face.
A cheat is a cheat is a cheat.

Thoughts for Tuesday....

1. Thank you to Jason for showing me the much requested sign I was looking for. The very day I posted, wouldn't you know he has a meeting with John Henry to open the doors of communication once again. Clearly I wasn't the only one who was confused about the status of his relationship with the Sox. And obviously, Jason is not looking for me to be broken hearted....

2. I watched an amazing documentary on the life of Martin Luther King over the past two days. It was the History Channel's special called "
King."
As a child I learned about Martin Luther King Jr., but not nearly to the extent of all for which he believed in, fought for – and ultimately died for. It is such a sin that it’s always the ones who bring humanity to our inhumane world that always end up being struck down. It was eerie to see his speech from the night before his assassination -- it was so prophetic. While there was always the eminent threat of danger surrounding him at all times – there was no way he could’ve known the fate that would befall him the very next morning. And yet to have heard him speak – it makes you wonder if he had. Often times when we reflect upon the last few days in the life of a person who’s life ended very suddenly and with no warning – we find ourselves wondering if they subconsciously were aware that there was “something” going to happen. It was a wonderfully informative and touching documentary – and one that I would highly recommend watching if you have the opportunity to do so.

3. Today is Inauguration Day. It is always a pleasure to watch the swearing in of the new President, whether it’s my candidate of choice or not. It’s the celebration of watching the due process of our government and the backbone of who we are as a nation occur and take action. Does it need to cost $160 million? No, I should think not… but I digress.

Do I think Barack Obama is the second coming of JFK, or MLK – as some would like to parallel? No, I don’t think so. Not even a little bit.

But I do enjoy listening to him speak; he does ring of positive thoughts and hope for the future – and though I did not vote for him – I’m willing to give him the chance to stand on his own merit.
There are a lot of things I disagree with him on, however – he is our new President.
And right, wrong or otherwise on topics and personal associations, I do respect the office and the men who have held it.

Today is a day for America to stand proud.

(And clearly wear yellow. Myself and about 5 other people I've run into today are wearing it -- as is our new first lady. Who knew?)

The unpopular road is often the one less traveled...

So, I've been getting some slack over the last few days about my choice on voting against decriminalizing marijuana usage.
But no one has really stopped to ask me why I voted against it.

The general response I've received has been "it's ridiculous to make it a crime if I get pulled over on a random traffic stop, and get caught with a bone, or a small amount for a pipe".
Really now.... ? Ridiculous?

I don't care if you're a thirty-something or older and you've decided that you just can't handle life without self medicating. Or don't know how to distress in a way that isn't chemically induced. Whatever, that's your issue and you can deal with it. I'm not trying to sound holier than thou, because sure - I smoked for a few months when I was younger. I was 18. And then, I grew up. That's sort of how I perceive it. After a while, you grow up and realize that it isn't funny to have the munchies, or be paranoid and stupid - or be completely complacent. There are more things to do in life with your time. At least for me.

But here is my issue: We can't stop our kids from drinking. We certainly can't stop them from taking drugs. But if it's illegal, there's a different mindset about them using it. They're more careful about it, hopefully. Because if we downplay it and make it perfectly acceptable, then I think it's going to be impossible to keep kids from using it.

And here's the thing. You thirty-somethings and older who are career pot smokers, well maybe you're better experienced at driving under the influence. But you take a 16 year old kid, with a fast car and reduced reflexes without care of being caught smoking high, because after all -- it's perfectly legal -- then you have a dangerous mix.

The last thing I want to hear is that my child is god forbid in an accident because some other kid was high behind the wheel.

And it's not that legalizing prevents it from happening entirely -- it's just a way to try to make it a bit more difficult to obtain.

Ten years ago, maybe I'd have felt differently. But today, as a mother -- and a mother of children who are genetically predisposed to becoming addicts due to the amount of addiction that is riddled through their paternal background, I can't help but to try to deter my children from using recreational drugs of any kind. Every single addict that I have come to know throughout my life -- all started with marijuana. So do I believe it's a gateway drug? You bet I do.

But I also think that a good portion of being an addict is tied into who we are inherently as a person. It's a fine line between addiction and control.

And as a mother, I just can't agree with giving children the carte blanche availability to figure out which one of those personality types they may have.

Wondering what I'm gonna say... Sometimes life can be deceiving... Wednesday wont go away

1. Jason, Jason...where for art thou Jason...? While his agent is doing a lot of talking, I really would like to know what his thoughts are on the subject of free agency. Is he as interested in remaining with the Sox as he was during the last round of negotiations? Or is he thinking of leaving us (me) and trying a hand elsewhere? I think two years with options is a fair deal, especially if they're going to consider offering him the same amount of money as he's been making for those two years. C'mon Jason, it can't be all about the money.... there's got to be some value with job satisfaction, right? You love them (me), they (I) love you. It's all good.

Oh, and open letter to the Sox: Let's be honest - you need him. Make it happen.

2. Note to self: Start thinking about a new vehicle. The lease on my RX is up in 5.5 months, and on my way to work this morning -- I almost spun out because I apparently got a flat tire. Fortunately, the tire didn't blow out, and I still had to get to work so....cautiously I continued on my commute. A little while ago, I went to get my oil changed and sure enough - the tire is shot. Not even remotely fixable. So, thankfully I have a full size spare with a perfectly matching rim -- and I will buy a new tire in the next few days. But though I could probably use two other new tires, it's a lease - and being turned in very shortly as I already mentioned. So I think the time has come to start researching new SUVs. I really need a 7 seater. Suggestions, anyone?

3. I'm so over the election. Enough already -- the decision's been made, can we just move on?? Sure, not everyone's happy about it -- but I think it's been beat into the ground already. Now, let's just see what happens.

4. Tomorrow I get the results of my MRI. Seriously, if the doctor tells me that my MRI came back clean, then I'm going to be really, really scared. Something is not right with this knee and though the MRI gave me better mobility just the mere fact that it straightened my leg straighter than I could get it on my own, it's opened a whole new world of discomfort for me. I didn't think I'd ever want to hear the words "you need surgery", but seriously - I'll be more nervous if he tells me I don't. This is very uncomfortable. And truthfully, I'm hoping that if I do have to have it-- I'll be able to schedule it for prior to Thanksgiving. Here's hoping...!

5. And finally, I'll leave you with this thought.... Pragmatism asks its usual question. "Grant an idea or belief to be true," it says, "what concrete difference will its being true make in anyone's actual life? How will the truth be realized? What experiences will be different from those which would obtain if the belief were false? What, in short, is the truth's cash-value in experiential terms?

Rock the Vote...

So here's the deal.
I don't care who you vote for. It's a personal choice, a private decision - and the most important thing is that you vote for the candidate that you feel best represents you and your views.

It can be a difficult decision to make, depending upon what your beliefs and principals are. Very rarely is there ever one candidate who is all encompassing for anyone individual.

And yet most people lose sight of the fact that -- throughout their campaign, a politicians goal is exactly that -- to be all things, to all people.

All politicians make promises that they cannot, nor have any intention of keeping. So the difficult part that lies within us -- the American voters -- is to determine what is plausible, viable and important enough of an issue that the candidate you are supporting will truly have the opportunity to support in return.

Don't vote for a candidate based upon what other people will think of you or judge you in your choice; that's not the right reason to choose. It happens a lot....more often than you may think, because a person's opinion can easily be swayed by the perception of how others react to their decisions. Of course there is peer pressure in voting; sit around an average dinner table on any given Sunday afternoon and I assure you, you will see it.

At the same time, that is one of the beautiful things about our country and the very essence of who we are as a nation. We don't all have to agree.

That is one of the fundamental rights we have as Americans, and why you should exercise that ability to either agree or disagree - and vote.

If you don't -- then I don't want to hear what you have to say about the economy, or healthcare, or international affairs. Don't whine about tax cuts, or tax breaks or tax increases.

If you don't vote -- then shut up and sit down. Your opinion doesn't count.
Truly, this girl doesn't want to hear a thing you have to say.

Sitting in the morning sun....I'll be sitting when the evening comes....

1. Note to the reporters that have been out there on national television crying about the Angels loss to the Sox: Seriously, enough whining already about the Red Sox. The better team won - period, end of discussion. Man up, shut up - and sit down.

First of all, you can't take anything away from either team -- they both played hard. But let's be honest -- the Angels defense made some crazy errors. And while I held my breath during the middle of their lineup because they were so good, "were" is the proper tense. Because they weren't that good during this series. Baseball is cyclical - and at that time, during the post season - the Angels didn't prove to be as good as they were during the season. Not to say that they weren't tough - this was not an easy series by any stretch -- but it wasn't as bad as some may have thought it was going to be.

Final thought on this series ....you can't challenge Jason's out at third! He tagged him before dropping the ball. There was no fumble here. He tagged him, before the ball came out of the glove. Get over it and move on....

2. Time to think about Tampa.... the rotation came out today, and truthfully I'm surprised to see Beckett pitching the second game. I think I was thinking he'd pitch third at Fenway - but maybe since he pitches so well at Tropicana (not that he doesn't pitch well everywhere, but his record is really great there!). Truthfully I only figured they'd pitch him at home to give him another day of rest, but what was it I said yesterday? In Francona we trust....

3. The debates were anything but a debate. Come on - let them get down and dirty and mix it up! The only thing that last night resolved for me was the overwhelming realization that Obama is going to win this election. He is just so slick. And McCain comes across as rather, grumpy. I like them both but the truth of the matter is that I don't know which one to believe when they're speaking. They're both talking so much schtick with no real substance -- I couldn’t' even finish watching it. Neither one excited me, neither one motivated me -- and neither one clarified anything for me. In a word: aaagh.

4. How about a little "aaah".... so glad to find out that my new insurance policy, which will more than likely be uber expensive -- covers acupuncture. Not fully, but any little bit helps! The fluorescent lights here are killing me, and truthfully I'm so overdue to go back. These headaches though nearly not like they were before, are slowly and surely creeping back into my life. Between yoga and acupuncture, I need to get myself feeling spectacular again. Running + Yoga + Acupuncture = Bliss. '

Must. Find. Center.

5. I can taste again!!! Today, my friend Michelle and I met for sushi today. She also gave her notice and so we had a little celebratory/congratulatory luncheon at our favorite little sushi hideaway. It's perfect because you can be in and out within a half hour. And the sushi was fantastic. We had a new creation today -- and I think it's our new favorite. She and I have very similar sushi tastes, so move over Spicy Maki because Crazy Roll is the new gig in town...!
